The Best of PA Cheese CSA is a cheese of the month program from the best daries and creameries in Pennsylvania.  Every month, we feature 1 variety each of artisanal cheese from 3 of the best creameries that Pennsylvania has to offer.  Your monthly package will contain 3 wedges, averaging around 8oz each.  There will be repeat creameries, however we don't anticipate having to repeat any specific variety of cheese for years to come.  Don't worry though, if there is one particular variety of cheese that you just can't wait to have again, we can make arangements to get more to you.

June 2010 Cheeses!

Goudagold - handcrafted by Hidden Hills Dairy. Located in Everett, PA.
HHD's description - Our first cheese and still a favorite. This cheese is made only in the summer months when the cows are on pasture to capture the natural golden color of the grass. Aged 5-8 months, this cheese works equally well on a cheese tray, baked in a casserole or paired with fruit. As "gouda" as it gets!

Uncle Joe -
handcrafted by Clover Creek Cheese Cellar.  Located in Williamsburg, PA
CCCC's description - We started with the easiest cheese recipe we could find. We liked what we tasted and decided it needed a special name. Our childrenīs Uncle Joe offered us a bottle of 2001 vintage homemade wine for a special wash to finish the cheese, so naturally we named this cheese after him.  We use this to wash the rinds as needed. This wash, and the flavor of our grass fed milk, gives us a unique taste that no one else can copy.

Vermeer - handcrafted by Keswick Creamery.  Located in Newburg, PA
KC's description - A dutch style, natural rind cheese that has the creaminess of gouda with the nuttiness of an alpine emmenthaler. Vermeer melts very well and is a great in soups, fondue, sauces, or sandwiches. It pairs quite nicely with Dream Weaver wheat beer from Troegs or Weyerbacher's Blithering Idiot barley wine.
